AMMAN — A total of 50 international and Arab financial service companies and banks are set to participate in the 16th edition of the Jordan Forex Expo, scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

Participating firms work in stock exchange, foreign currency and minerals, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

According to the expo’s organisers, the event seeks to provide attendees with an overview of updated guidelines on the regulation of foreign stock exchanges and an introduction to corresponding strategies, thus facilitating the companies’ efforts to provide their services.

The expo was organised by Afaq Media in cooperation with the Jordan Securities Commission (JSC), Petra reported.

CEO of Afaq Media Khaldoun Nseir said the two-day expo aims to promote investment in the sector of investment services, contributing to the creation of jobs.

He added that such endeavours further the government’s goal to launch Jordan as an “international platform” for creativity in technology.

The head of the JSC’s disclosures department said the significance of the expo lies in the fact that it follows the issuance of the law on regulating the operations of financial companies in foreign stock markets, which was endorsed in February 2018.

Obtaining licences allows companies to work in foreign stock markets and acts as an advantage that would allow these firms to expand their clientele who will have the option of dealing in foreign stock through licensed companies under JSC monitoring.
