AMMAN — The Jordan Times distributes on Monday the 11th issue of Al Qibla newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Great Arab Revolt.
The four-page newspaper dedicates its front page to publish a manifest issued by Sharif Hussein Bin Ali, the King of Hijaz and the leader of the revolt.
In the statement, the Sharif explained the reasons behind the renaissance movement he was leading.
The Sharif blamed the Turkish leaders for involving the empire in meaningless wars and squandering the assets of the state and risking the safety of its subjects.
He also blamed the new rulers in Istanbul for changing the original policies that made the Ottoman empire a great one.
An article by a writer pennamed as “traveller” explores the Turkish policies aimed at undermining the Arab culture.
The third page of the issue covers news of the World War I in various parts of Europe and other war fields.
The paper, which stopped printing in 1924, includes in the issue at-a-glance news of other local, regional and international developments.
The issue also covers economic and social news and literary quotations.
The distribution of Al Qibla by The Jordan Times and other local dailies is part of celebrations of the centennial of the Great Arab Revolt.
