1 killed, 3 injured in Zarqa explosion

AMMAN — An old bomb exploded in the Hallabat area in Zarqa on Wednesday, killing a child and injuring his father, mother and brother, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Zarqa Police Department was notified on Wednesday that an old bomb had gone off in the eastern Hallabat region inside a tent in an empty area, according to the Public Security Directorate’s media spokesperson.
The official added that security personnel went immediately to the explosion scene, announcing that the blast had led to the death of a 12-year-old child and the injury of his father, mother and brother, who are of Arab nationalities.
The injured persons were transferred to the hospital and are in stable condition, the spokesperson noted, adding that an investigation into the incident has been launched.
