AMMAN — Major industrial companies and liquid-battery assembling companies annually generate around 1,000 tonnes of hazardous and recyclable waste, Environment Ministry Spokesperson Raya Silwani said on Tuesday.

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Silwani said that the Kingdom has three facilities to recycle liquid batteries. She added that there is a centre specialised in the treatment of hazardous waste that works under the supervision of the ministry.

The spokesperson noted that the centre deals with 3,000 to 5,000 cubic metres of hazardous waste produced in the Kingdom.
