AMMAN — The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) on Tuesday opened law enforcement offices at several electricity distribution companies.

The aim of these offices is to follow up on violations against electricity companies and to curb power theft.

EMRC Chief Commissioner Farouq Hiyari said the commission has opened offices at the Jordanian Electric Power Co. Ltd., the Irbid District Electricity Company Ltd., and the Electricity Distribution Company to investigate violations and assaults, with the jurisdiction to detain violators and receive complaints from subscribers.
