AMMAN — Around 73 collective work contracts and agreements valued at JD40 million were signed under the umbrella of the Labour Ministry last year, benefiting 263,141 workers, Labour Minister Nidal Katamine said Tuesday.
The ministry, he added, dealt with 78 labour disputes in 2014, of which five were referred to court while the rest were resolved through direct negotiations.
Katamine noted that labour conflicts went down by 20 per cent during the past two years.
Also on Tuesday, Katamine, who is also the tourism minister, checked on the progress of processing applications to renew the licences of tourism facilities.
He noted that the ministry has given a one-month grace period for the process, which will end on January 31.
