AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, on Monday voiced support and appreciation for police as they continue to play their part, along with other state agencies, in enforcing law, ensuring the rule of law and protecting the lives and properties of citizens and residents.

According to a statement by the Security Media Centre at the Public Security Department (PSD), His Majesty’s remarks came as he visited the PSD and met with police chief Gen. Tawfiq Tawalbeh.

On the sidelines of the visit, His Majesty inaugurated the Preventive Security Department’s headquarters located within the vicinity of the PSD’s main offices.

The King toured the sections of the new building and checked on technical facilities designed to improve police performance in dealing with crimes and carry out the duties of the preventive security unit.

The Monarch reiterated the importance of carrying on with the development of the specialised police work to render it more professional and adhering to relevant laws. He also urged cooperation among all security agencies to address challenges facing the Kingdom.

King Abdullah also checked on progress made in the implementation of PSD’s executive and strategic plans and the improvements to police and traffic services.

The King praised PSD personnel’s efforts in supporting other public institutions in ensuring the rule of law and serve Jordanians and their guests.

Tawalbeh, for his part, stressed that PSD is continuing to work on His Majesty’s directives to harness all available capabilities to develop security services extended to citizens.
