AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah is due to hold talks with US President Barack Obama mid-January, according to official sources.

Talks will focus on bilateral relations in the political and economic fields and prospects of cooperation between the two sides, the sources said.

The two sides will also look into ways to break the stalemate in the Middle East peace process.

Jordan on Tuesday hosted the first Palestinian-Israeli talks in 16 months at the level of chief negotiators.

His Majesty met Obama and senior administration officials in May last year and paid another visit to the US in July, when he took part in the Sun Valley Economic Forum in the state of Idaho.
