King to meet presidents of Djibouti, Tanzania, Somalia and Kenya Sunday

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah will hold a private meeting in Aqaba on Sunday with the presidents of four African countries, along with a number of other officials, a Royal Court statement said Saturday.

The presidents are Djibouti's Ismail Omar Guelleh, Tanzania's Jakaya Kikwete, Somalia's Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Kenya's Uhuru Kenyatta.

"The meeting is being held within the framework of strengthening efforts and maintaining coordination and consultation among various regional and international parties to counter extremism and fight terrorism from a holistic approach," the statement said.

On Saturday, King Abdullah met with French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially at the military level.

The meeting also addressed the latest regional and international developments, mainly efforts to combat the threat of terrorism, according to a second Royal Court statement.

Earlier this month, King Abdullah received former French prime minister François Fillon and reviewed Jordanian-French relations. 

During the meeting, the King and Fillon also discussed regional and international developments, especially efforts exerted to confront the dangers of terrorism.
