AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday presented awards to winners of an electronic game development competition organised by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development.

A total of 32 schools from Amman, Tafileh, Madaba and Irbid participated in the competition, which is designed to encourage creativity and enhance the skills of students as well as support their pilot projects, in order to enable them to integrate into a knowledge economy.

The King presented prizes to the winners from the Amman National School and watched a film on the achievements of the Jordan Interactive Gaming Laboratory, which was established at the King Hussein Business Park last year under a Royal initiative with the aim of boosting the skills of talented students and electronic game developers.

Under the competition, participating students, aged between 15 and 17, worked in groups to design applications for mobile devices.

Gaming Laboratory Supervisor Nour Khrais, who is also chairman of the Jordan Gaming Task Force, said the lab provided the participating schools with the technology and equipment to help students develop the applications.
