AMMAN — Iraq’s Parliament Speaker Salim Al Jabouri arrived in Amman on Saturday on an official three-day visit during which he will meet several Jordanian officials and lawmakers.

In statements to the press upon arrival, he said his visit will address a host of parliamentary issues and challenges facing the two countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh and his Iraqi counterpart will hold a press conference at 10:30am on Sunday. They will address issues of joint concern, especially bilateral relations and the latest regional developments, Petra reported.

Jabouri underlined the important role Jordan plays at the regional level and commended the Kingdom for providing humanitarian assistance to several areas in Iraq.

Tarawneh, who received Jabouri and his accompanying delegation at Marka Military Airport, said his Iraqi counterpart’s visit will also focus on exchange of expertise and consultation between the two countries’ legislatures.
