AMMAN — Teams from the National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) have started visiting detainees, who were arrested on the backdrop of protests sparked by the government’s decision to lift fuel subsidies, at rehabilitation and correctional centres across the Kingdom.

The teams will check on the conditions of detainees and the circumstances of their arrest.

Security authorities had announced that they released 30 out of 280 people who were arrested during the protests.

The NCHR called on people to voice their demands and opinions peacefully without destroying public and private property.
