AMMAN — On the occasion of Eid Al Adha, ministries and public departments will observe a holiday from Thursday October 25 through Monday October 29, according to a communiqué issued by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Wednesday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Eid Al Adha, which falls on the 10th day of Dhul Hijja, is the feast marking the end of the pilgrimage season, which Muslims of sufficient means are required to perform at least once in their lifetimes.
Meanwhile, the finance ministry took the necessary measures to disburse the salaries of public sector employees before the start of Eid Al Adha on October 26, Petra reported.
The salaries of state employees will be disbursed on Thursday, while the salaries of military and civil retirees will be disbursed on Sunday, according to Finance Minister Suleiman Hafez.
He said the decision was made to alleviate the employees’ difficult financial situation and help them prepare for Eid.
