AMMAN — The capital’s water distribution system witnessed disruptions on Tuesday when pumping at the Zara-Maeen Water Treatment Plant was suspended due to power cuts, according to the Jordan Water Company (Miyahuna).

Several neighbourhoods in Amman witnessed a delay in the weekly water distribution programme, Miyahuna Operation Manager Ghazi Khalil told The Jordan Times over the phone.

Miyahuna pumps over 408,000 cubic metres of water to Amman daily from several sources such as the Zara Maeen plant, Qastal wells, Qatraneh, Swaqa and the Zai Water Treatment Plant.

Households receive water once a week on a rotating basis under the water distribution programme.
