AMMAN — The Council of Ministers was briefed on Wednesday on the Information Council’s annual report, which measures the government’s commitment to providing access to information.
The 2014 report includes results prepared by the World Bank on the Access to Information Law and its application, which indicated that Jordan was the most responsive country to requests for information among eight countries covered by the study — the US, the UK, Brazil, India, Mexico, South Africa and Thailand.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour directed public institutions to provide access to information to all.
The Cabinet also discussed the possibility of filling vacancies at state-owned companies through the Civil Service Bureau to ensure equal opportunities.
Moreover, the Cabinet approved the Amman-Zarqa Bus Rapid Transit project, which will take around three years and cost some JD110 million.
In addition, the Council of Ministers approved the establishment of the Jerash Industrial Estate.
