AMMAN — Twenty-six security officers were injured in riots in Zaatari camp late Tuesday, a statement from the Public Security Department (PSD) said.

Around 200 Syrian refugees participated in a march in protest against the camp’s “poor services” and facilities.

Officials from the camp’s administration met with the march’s organisers to look into their demands, but the protesters attacked them with stones, the PSD said. Gendarmerie and PSD forces fired teargas to disperse the protesters.

The PSD said calm was later restored in the camp, while one of the injured security officers was reported to be in critical condition.
